I am an officer in the United States Army, and my unit, 1-75th Cavalry, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne, and stationed in Southern Afghanistan, and we received your letters. I must tell you how much we appreciate all the letters and pictures that you sent us. It really helps our morale when we know that people back in the States are thinking about us and sending us packages and letters. We're fighting a very unusual battle here. We daily meet with the people of Afghanistan, and they are just like you and me. I was at a site recently where we are making a center for agricultural development, and I was with a group of people there to supervise some things. We spoke a bit about the school that we were building. One Afghan boy, about 15, said, "I already have a job! I don't need to go to school!" Teenagers are the same all over the world, I suppose. Thanks again for the work that you do. Don't think for one second that it's not important because we notice all the letters that come through here; we just don't have the time to respond to them all. God bless you, and thank you.
Sincerely, LT M.l B.
We recieved them this week and really enjoy them! |
